Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln…
All names associated with making an impact on history.
All the names of people that resonate love and forgiveness.
All regular ol’ human beings living their life mission.
All hero’s that, on some level, resonate with all peoples of all cultures.
There are many more that I have not named.
Some that have blessed us and left us, crossing over to the next plane without even a glimpse.
But they were here, and they were real, not some mythical folklore story, but real human beings.
Maybe you are living next door to one.
…Or better yet, maybe it’s you?
Sometimes I forget that my purpose on this planet is to love every single person I come in contact with.
No exceptions!
The Greats all preached it…Christ, Buddha, Muhammad…Love, Love, Love.
Where is the love today? Most of what I see is fear driven crap.
So then I get caught up in the egocentric ways of being busy, productive, and making money, and forget.
But then I sit, reflect, contemplate my life, feel my gratitude, and see the truth.
…There is nothing but this moment.
Teachers, mentors, and messengers are among us.
Some even write beautiful poetry and sing songs of finding the peace you need from within.
We were talking about the space between us all
And the people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth, then it’s far too late, when they pass away
We were talking about the love we all could share
When we find it, to try our best to hold it there with our love
With our love, we could save the world, if they only knew
Try to realize it’s all within yourself
No one else can make you change
And to see you’re really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you
We were talking about the love that’s gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don’t know, they can’t see, are you one of them?
When you’ve seen beyond yourself then you may find
Peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we’re all one
And life flows on within you and without you
George Harrison wrote those lyrics 50 years ago.
Perhaps his song Within You And Without You does not resonate, that’s ok. Keep looking.
My hope and prayer is that something has, and will continue to resonate in us all so we can straighten out the madness of hate and greed that plagues us.
This planet is getting smaller and smaller as our population increases. Those are facts we cannot deny.
We have to find a way to live in peace.
If not for us now, for our grandchildren’s children.
Stay awake!
